Have you ever wondered why freelancers have so many problems managing their clients’ projects?Examples of problems that can easily plague a freelancer’s career include endless revision cycles, inconsistencies expectations, salary issues, and more.

Today, in addition to explaining what questions to ask, I want to give you a quick lesson on effective client communication that will help your freelance projects run more smoothly. These strategic, carefully crafted questions are an integral part of my success as a freelancer. where to start
All freelance projects start with the first contact. Sometimes you’re the one who sees the customer. Otherwise, the customer will contact you (either by email or via the contact form on her website).
From there, it’s your job to ask the right questions, figure out what the client needs, price the project, collect payment, and get to work.
The series of interactions between you and the prospect leading up to the project initiation is called the “onboarding” process. This is the process of “onboarding” new customers to your company. common mistakes
Most freelancers mistakenly ask specific questions about the scope of their work. For web designers and developers, pages, features, and functionality are often the focus here.
This usually leads you (and the client) down the rabbit hole of estimating time and pricing the project before discussing what the client is essentially trying to achieve.
why is this a problem? This is because customers have become so prescriptive that they rarely know exactly what they want or need. They will tell you what they want and you will agree to it.All seems fine until they start delivering the pieces. Then they will realize that it is not what they wanted and will ask for a fix.
This is where most freelancers lose control of their projects and clients – because their expectations were misplaced from the start.
When a client asks you to design a new marketing website, don’t start by asking how many pages you want or what features you want. This keeps everyone focused on the scope of the work (design, content, functionality, etc.) rather than the project goals.
Below are some valuable and insightful questions I ask my prospects through the dynamic contact form on my company’s website. This form contains all the information I need to assess if a client is a good fit for my company before spending time with them.You can also ask these questions over the phone. (in that order).

1. What type of project do you need to complete?
If you offer multiple types of services, this is the perfect place to find out what your customers need. A web designer needs to understand whether a client needs a marketing website, product, or mobile her app. A copywriter needs to know whether a client needs a copy of a blog post for a website or social her media. Therefore, using a generic “Tell us what you want” message box as a contact form on your website can result in low-quality leads and spam. Customers have to start from scratch and work out what to enter. Guide customers to provide better information by asking strategic questions.
